Provided by AGPA spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General said at a press briefing: "The Secretary General strongly condemns yesterday's deadly attack on a mosque in San Diego, California, in which three people were killed."
The spokesperson further emphasized the nature of attacks on religious sites, stating: "He reaffirms that attacks on places of worship are particularly heinous."
The statement also highlighted Guterres’ appeal for social cohesion and accountability, noting:
"He stands in solidarity with the Muslim community and calls for a full investigation into the attack."
According to reports, the UN chief also extended condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with the Muslim community, urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
The attack took place at the Islamic Center of San Diego, where three individuals, including a security guard, were fatally shot on Monday.
Law enforcement officials said the suspects later died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds during the incident, according to reports.
