Fresh news on business and economy in Latin America
Provided by AGPThe incident occurred during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base, where two EA-18G Growler jets were flying in close formation at low altitude. Footage reportedly shows the aircraft coming into contact mid-flight before becoming entangled, losing control, and descending rapidly toward the ground. The pilots ejected shortly after the collision, with parachutes visible as they landed safely.
“All four members of the aircrew successfully ejected and are being evaluated by medical personnel,” a Naval Air Forces spokesperson said, as stated by reports.
The EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft developed from the F/A-18F Super Hornet. It was introduced in the late 2000s to replace an earlier electronic warfare platform used by the US Navy.
Authorities have not released further details on the cause of the collision, and an investigation is expected to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
