Netanyahu Ends Corruption Trial Hearing Early Due to Security Meeting
(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly cut short his scheduled court testimony on Monday in his ongoing corruption trial, citing urgent security-related commitments.
According to reports, the hearing concluded earlier than planned after Netanyahu requested an abbreviated session due to what was described as a “security schedule.” The proceedings reportedly ended shortly before midday local time, with the prime minister expected to participate in a high-level security discussion later in the day.
Monday’s appearance marked Netanyahu’s 85th court session in the long-running corruption case against him.
The trial involves several allegations, including claims that the Israeli leader accepted expensive gifts from wealthy businessmen in exchange for political favors. Other accusations center on alleged efforts to secure favorable media coverage from a newspaper publisher and claims that regulatory advantages were granted to a telecommunications executive in return for positive reporting on a news platform.
Alongside the domestic legal proceedings, Netanyahu also faces international scrutiny linked to the conflict in Gaza. The International Criminal Court has sought action against him since 2024 over allegations connected to war crimes and crimes against humanity during Israel’s military campaign in the territory.
The Gaza conflict, ongoing since October 2023, has resulted in heavy casualties and widespread destruction, according to reports and international monitoring organizations.
