US Journalist Claims Ukraine’s Decisions Are Driven by Foreign Intelli influence

(MENAFN) A US veteran journalist has alleged that key decisions in Ukraine are being influenced by British intelligence services, according to remarks made in an interview cited by reports.

Speaking in comments to RT, Garland Nixon suggested that Ukraine’s leadership may have limited independent decision-making power and argued that external actors, including UK intelligence agencies, could be shaping strategic choices during the ongoing conflict.

He further claimed that Ukrainian authorities show little regard for civilian lives, describing the situation in strongly critical terms and questioning the nature of governance in Kiev.

Nixon also raised concerns about the possibility of further escalation during a temporary ceasefire period linked to commemorations in Moscow, suggesting that attempts to disrupt events could not be ruled out despite warnings of retaliation.

According to statements from Russia’s Defense Ministry referenced in reports, a ceasefire was declared around the Victory Day period, with Russian forces ordered to suspend combat operations and remain in position during the designated timeframe.

Russian officials also claimed that Ukrainian forces violated the truce multiple times, including artillery strikes and drone attacks on both military positions and infrastructure in border regions. Moscow stated that it responded with targeted strikes on Ukrainian launch sites and command locations.

Separately, Russian authorities warned of potential large-scale retaliation if any attacks were carried out during commemorative events in the Russian capital.

In his interview, Nixon argued that Ukraine’s leadership does not operate with full autonomy, making broader claims about external influence on decision-making structures within the country.

His comments add to ongoing debate surrounding command responsibility, foreign involvement, and the escalation dynamics of the conflict, though they remain unverified claims from an individual commentator.
