Israeli army forces carry out new raid in Syria’s southern countryside
According to available information, an Israeli patrol made up of two vehicles crossed into northern Quneitra through the Adnaniyah area. The forces reportedly set up a temporary checkpoint along the road connecting the villages of Rwihinah and Mushayrifah.
Separately, another Israeli detachment moved into the southern town of al-Rafid, where troops fired shots into the air without causing casualties. In a related development, a convoy of five military vehicles was said to have entered the village of Saida al-Hanout, also located in the southern Quneitra countryside.
No official response was immediately issued by either the Israeli military or Syrian authorities regarding these reported movements.
These latest operations have reportedly increased the total number of Israeli ground incursions into southern Syria to 42 since early December. Most of the actions have focused on central and northern parts of Quneitra and have involved the establishment of military checkpoints, the construction of dirt barriers, extensive damage to farmland, the uprooting of large numbers of fruit trees, and the destruction of wells used for irrigation.
Israeli activity has also been reported in mountainous areas, including the slopes of Jabal al-Sheikh, also known as Mount Hermon, and areas surrounding the town of Beit Jinn. Reports indicate efforts to install technical surveillance infrastructure on elevated terrain overlooking Syrian territory.
Data released by Syrian government bodies indicates that since December 2024, Israel has conducted more than 1,000 airstrikes across Syria, alongside over 400 cross-border ground operations concentrated in the southern regions.
Following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad government in late 2024, Israel reportedly expanded its control in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights by taking over the demilitarized buffer zone, a step that contravened the terms of a 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria.
