Musk seeks to replace Wikipedia with AI modal
The new service, Grokipedia, will be run by Musk's xAI company and utilizes its generative AI model, Grok, which is already incorporated into his social platform, X. Musk also posted a user feedback regarding the announcement made on Tuesday.
Among the reactions were a parody logo merging Grok and Wikipedia, a meme that portrayed Musk as the grim reaper aiming to shut down the platform, and proposals from Wikipedia co-founder-turned-critic Larry Sanger regarding methods for ensuring neutrality in a user-edited knowledge base.
Musk revealed his new initiative after White House crypto and cyber adviser David Sacks disapproving of Wikipedia. Sacks stated that the site was the work of “an army of left-wing activists” instead of the neutral, consensus-based source it purports to be. He warned that the site's high visibility in Google results and its use in training AI models make its sensed bias “a huge problem.”
